2022 Sabine Hall Viognier

The 2022 Sabine Hall is 100% Viognier aged in stainless steel. Less floral than is typical for Viognier, this vintage has aromas of grapefruit, pear, & grass on the nose. The pallet has a little more weight to it than other whites & is brighter, more citrusy, & round. High in alcohol, the wine is very well balanced by a moderate acidity & a small amount of natural residual sugar.  Pairs well with poultry such as turkey, chicken, & pheasant, plus egg-based dishes.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Bright, citrusy, and round. Less floral than is typical for Viognier, our 2021 Sabine Hall has aromas of grapefruit, pear, grass.
Vineyard Notes
Extremely ripe fruit coming from Hollins Farm, located just over the hill from Strother Family Vineyard. Our first year working with fruit from this vineyard.
Production Notes
173 cases bottled 12/15/2021
Winemaker Notes
Due to its high initial sugar level, the wine naturally stopped fermentation with some residual sugar. As a thick skinned variety, Viognier has more weight to it than other wines, especially considering the wine was fermented fully in stainless steel and did not go through malolactic fermentation. High in alcohol, the wine is very well balanced by moderate acidity and a small amount of natural residual sugar.
Food Pairing Notes
Pairs well with poultry such as turkey, chicken, and pheasant, plus egg-based dishes.
